The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) invites applications from qualified candidates for consideration to be appointed to the position of:
R E C T O R
1. The Institute
GIMPA is a public tertiary institution established pursuant to the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Act, 2004 (Act 676) to train public servants of the country and to provide education, training and services in the fields of leadership, management and public administration for the public sector, the private sector and non-governmental organizations. The Institute currently offers a number of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in business, law, management and related fields. The Institute is located on a modern and well established but still developing campus at Greenhill, Achimota, Ghana.
2. Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must:
i. Be of professorial status, a distinguished scholar and must have had considerable managerial and administrative experience in higher education or industry, or both.
ii. Be an individual of stature and integrity with a proven record of visionary leadership and good interpersonal and communication skills.
iii. Show capacity for marshalling the resources needed to carry out the vision of the Institute through creativity and innovation.
iv. Also show evidence of a demonstrated or potential ability to:
-- manage a university;
-- foster and promote good internal and external relations of the Institute; and
-- project effectively the image of the Institute internally and externally.
3. Functions
The Rector is the principal academic and administrative officer, and also the chief executive, of the Institute. Subject to general control by the Council on policies, the Rector is responsible for the promotion of good order and the efficient management of the Institute. The Rector’s other functions shall be as prescribed by the relevant law and Statutes of the Institute.
4. Conditions of Service/Tenure of Office
Very attractive terms and conditions of service, including tenure of office, will be specified in the instrument of appointment by the Council.
5. Mode of Application
i. Interested candidates should submit applications accompanied by two (2) copies of their Curriculum Vitae, which should include information on their qualifications, working experience, and list of publications with dates.
ii. Candidates should also submit, together with their application, a succinct statement of their vision for GIMPA and the key strategies for achieving it, in a minimum of two (2) pages and a maximum of six (6) pages of A4 paper in 1.5 line spacing.
iii. The application which should be in a sealed envelope, should be marked “For Post of Rector” and submitted by courier to:
