Rector’s New Year Message to Faculty and Staff
January 2011
On behalf of the Council and Management, I welcome all faculty and staff into the New Year. For the entire GIMPA family, I pray that the Good Lord will grant us his blessings, grace, peace and wisdom in the year 2011. With your help, 2011 will be the best year ever for GIMPA.
We can look back with pride on the year 2010 and acknowledge that together, we made significant gains on our journey from “Excellence to Greatness”. I thank each and every one of you for the various roles you have played diligently to bring the Institute this far. But, halfway through the journey, I urge you to fasten your seat belts to press on with renewed energy. In the first year, we focused on putting PEOPLE first. Our goal was to make all decisions with a human face. In the second year, we began to put in structures and systems to drive GIMPA’s agenda.
This year is perhaps the most important for us. We intend to solidify the gains of the first and second years and embark on new activities, in particular:
Implementation of our STRATEGIC PLAN, and Celebration of GIMPA’s 50th ANNIVERSARY.
We will begin implementation of the NEW STRATEGIC PLAN by 1st February, 2011. The Plan has been carefully crafted with input from all GIMPA Constituencies to give us strategic direction for the next five years. With dedicated implementation, the Plan should propel GIMPA to the next level of its development as an internationally recognized great academic institution. I want to thank the members of the Steering Committee for their diligent work and extend same acknowledgements to all of us who took time to provide inputs to complete the Plan. It will go through final approvals in January 2011 for implementation to begin on 1st February, 2011.
GIMPA turns 50 years old on 30th June, 2011. This is a significant milestone in the life of this Institute and we must celebrate this Jubilee with pomp and pageantry. A planning committee will soon be inaugurated to begin preparations for the Jubilee Celebration. The success of this anniversary celebration depends on our collective efforts. I urge each and every one of us to make a firm commitment to participate in the various activities to make the Anniversary Celebrations a success.
As is usually the case, I will hold durbars and meetings to give faculty and staff the opportunity to ask questions and also make contributions to debates on issues concerning the well-being of the GIMPA family.
Let me wish you a VERY HAPPY and PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR, and invite all hands on deck.
