As part of an academic program, thirty MBA students from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) toured some universities and business organizations across the United States.

What kind of weather can I expect in Ghana?

You can expect it to be warm. Around 30-34 degrees Celsius (85-90 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day.

What kind of banking services can I expect in Ghana?

There are a host of international banks across the country you can find the following banks on campus; Ecobank and Unibank. There also other banks just five minutes drive away from campus they are; Standard Chartered bank, Barclays Bank Ghana, HFC, CAL Bank branches respectively. These banks operate automated teller machines (ATM’s) available 24 hours a day. Barclays and standard chartered accept international transactions using a Visa Credit/Debit card.

Also western union services are available just five minutes drive away off campus

How do I get mail from home when in Ghana?

GIMPA has a full time Post Office on campus. Internet services on campus are also fast reliable and secure.

What is the International Direct Dial code for Ghana?

The IDD code for Ghana is +233.

Is it safe to drink tap water?

We advise that you drink bottled water at all times.

Can I access basic health care in Ghana?

We have a clinic on campus, with a visiting doctor on duty each day. The clinic provides basic health services for malaria, eye, fever, ear, cold and other minor ailments. The clinic is the first point of call in case of any health problem.

Will my laptop plug in and work in Ghana?

Yes it will the voltage is 220 volts (North America,120 volts) and the wall socket are the same as those used in great Britain (large 3 pin) your laptop probably works on either 120 or 220 volts but you will need an adapter to plug in your laptop into the power point. Any other electrical equipment should be dual voltage or you will need a voltage converter.
