GIMPA Law School  [BACHELOR OF LAWS Degree (LL.B)]

GIMPA Law SchoolThe main goal of the LL.B Programme is to expand legal knowledge and to produce qualified individuals who will work in the public sector generally and especially in the areas of the economy, administration and management.  It is also expected that they will work in the area of corporate governance within both the public and private sectors. 
The LL.B graduates can also further their academic and professional training in the field of law for ultimate practice and other vocations. The programme is also specially designed, after the relevant further professional and or other academic qualifications, to enable the Graduates meet the requirements of the job market for lawyers, legal academics, judges and magistrates as well as legal staff of the Judicial Service and Lawyers’ Chambers.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The LL.B Programme comprises nine (9) core courses and seven (7) elective courses. Seven (7) of the nine (9) core courses are required by the Ghana Legal Council to satisfy the criteria for admission to the Ghana Bar. The other two are Jurisprudence and Long Essay.

DURATION

The GIMPA Law Program is full-time and for a duration of three (3) years, that is, six (6) semesters.

LECTURE HOURS

4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. on weekdays for four (4) days in a week and from 2.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. on Saturdays.

START DATE: April 2010

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The entrance requirements shall be a first degree or its equivalent in any discipline, plus two years work experience.  Short-listed candidates shall be required to take and pass an entrance examination and prove successful at an interview.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications, three referee forms and a brochure for the programme may be obtained from the Cashier’s Office at the Greenhill campus of GIMPA, 

The cost of the Application Form is GH¢65.  All submitted applications must be accompanied by payment receipts. Payment for the downloaded form should be made at either of the following Banks:
