TRAINING IN REGIONAL COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION IN AFRICA

A GUIDE TO SELECTING A TRAINING PROGRAMME & SERVICE FROM GIMPA

GIMPA offers a number of Regular Training Programmes for the management development needs of organizations from the public and private sectors as well as NGOs. Most of the time organizations are not sure as to the type of courses they should recommend to their staff.

The following guidelines are provided to help organizations and/or individuals as well as training officials to decide on what courses to approve for their staff to undertake.
GIMPA's courses are designed to cover three main areas - the core or career progressions; functional; and in-plant or specially tailor-made courses.

THE CORE COURSES
I
. The Core courses are designed to give specific foundation skills for individuals to start a career in an organization and be able to advance in the organization's hierarchy.

GREENHILL COLLEGE
ll. Bachelor programmes run by the Greenhill College. The undergraduate programmes are specially designed for junior and middle management staff of organizations to effectively meet the leadership, management and administration challenges of the global situation. the Greenhill College programme is full-time and it runs in the afternoon from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in GIMPA, Achimota. Courses run by the College include:

  • Bachelor of Public Administration
  • Bachelor of Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Economics
  • Bachelor of Marketing
  • Bachelor of Accounting
  • Bachelor of Banking and Finance
  • Bachelor of Accounting and Finance
  • Bachelor of Entrepreneurship & SME Management
  • Bachelor of Hospitality Management

SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY
III. Bachelors programmes run by School of Technology for both workers and those who have just come out of Senior High Schools.

  • Bachelor of Science in Information & Communication Technology (Evening)
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Morning)
COMPETENCY-BASED SHORT COURSES
IV. These are designed to equip individuals with specific skills for performance of specific functions. Such courses can be attended at any point in one's career development; they are aimed at developing expertise for carrying out specific tasks. The include:

IN-PLANT COURSES
V. In-Plant Courses: There are times when due to specific organizational needs, specific tailor-made courses, seminars and workshops may be needed to address specific problems of a particular organization. Organizations may request for such programmes to be mounted for their staff. All courses that are mounted as regular programmes can also be redesigned to suit the needs of organizations on an in-plant basis.
