GIMPA Hosts Inaugural Emmanuel Victor Mamphey – Dag Hjalmaragne Carl Hammarskjold Lecture
GIMPA has established the Emmanuel Victor Mamphey – Dag Hjalmaragne Carl Hammarskjold lecture series to immortalise their contributions to the development and growth of GIMPA. These two leaders are Mr. Emmanuel Victor Mamphey and Mr. Dag Hjalmaragne Carl Hammarskjold.
Mr. Emmanuel Victor Mamphey was the first Ghanaian Principal of GIMPA who served from 1965 to 1968. Mr. Dag Hjalmaragne Carl Hammarskjold on the other hand, was a Swede who served as the second Secretary-General of the United Nations from April 1953 to 1961.
GIMPA is indebted to him as it was under his Secretary Generalship that the Institute was established as a joint venture between Ghana and the United Nations.
The inaugural lecture was delivered by Prof. Stephen Adei, the first Rector of GIMPA (2000 to 2008), on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the GB Auditorium, Greenhill. It was on the topic: ‘The Linchpin Role of Political and Public Sector Leadership in the Rise and Fall of Nations: Lessons for Ghana.’
