GIMPA Inducts into Office its First Female Secretary of the Institute

A colourful event has been held to induct into Office Mrs. Victoria Mwinsumah Puoyeng Kunbour as the first female Secretary of the Institute.
The historic event brought together high profile government officials, the academia, Heads of organizations, students, family and friends among many others.
It was chaired by Mr. Kofi Darko Asante, the Chairman of the GIMPA Governing Council who welcomed guests at the programme and inducted the new Secretary into Office.
Delivering his goodwill message Prof. Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, the Rector of GIMPA, congratulated Mrs. Kunbour adding that ‘You are the first female Secretary of the Institute and we are very proud of you.’
He noted that her appointment was an indication of GIMPA’s commitment to ending the marginalization of women in the country because ‘GIMPA was born to be different’.
‘Excellence and quality are our hallmark and it reflect in what we do,’ he added.
Prof. Bonsu maintained that the task ahead was indeed a tough one full of resistance to change. He was however, optimistic that together ‘We can make GIMPA great.’
In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Kunbour thanked the Chairman and Members of the Governing Council for the appointment adding that ‘I accept this privilege to serve as the Chief Operations Officer.’
She emphasized that by her appointment, the Governing Council had demonstrated confidence not just in her but also in the capacity of women to lead in executive positions in Ghana and the world at large.
‘More importantly, you have given hope to the staff at GIMPA, especially the administrative and professional staff about the equal opportunities for one to move from the lower levels through the ranks to the highest Office of Secretary,’ she added.
Mrs. Kunbour pledged her support to both the Rector and the Deputy Rector and to provide strategic support that would enable them build upon the achievements of previous administrations.
She further called for the support of all faculty and staff of GIMPA saying ‘I need your constant and utmost support and prayers as I step into the strategic operations functions of the Institute.’
She was grateful for the various support received from colleagues, family and friends in the pursuit of her career.
Mrs. Kunbour’s career as an administrator and Human Resource Management Practitioner spans a period of 16 year of dedicated service and valuable contribution to GIMPA.
She was appointed as an Assistant Registrar in August 2006 and rose through the ranks to the Deputy Registrar rank in September 2021. Prior to her appointment, she was the Director of Human Resource Management.
A thanksgiving service was held and lead by Reverend Father John K. Louis and the collage of clergy from the Mary Mother of Good Council Church on behalf of the Institute.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by representatives of the GIMPA Senior Members Association (GISMA), Middle Level Staff Association (MLSA), Junior Level Staff Association (JLSA) and the Students Representative Council (SRC).
