The GIMPA School of Public Service and Governance is one of the key academic units at GIMPA. The School was given its current name in August 2013 following the merger of the former Public Services School and the School of Governance and Leadership, to provide graduate training in Public Sector Management and Development.
The school is renowned for its exceptional teaching, challenging curriculum and the remarkable graduates who are advancing leadership in Africa and around the world. Its mission is to offer practical governance and leadership programmes that prepare students for high impact roles as public leaders and managers.
The school offers a rich mix of academic and professional programmes in public administration, development management, governance and leadership, health administration and management, occupational health and safety as well as a PhD programme in Public Administration, Leadership and Governance. Our faculty comprises prominent and scholars and practitioners from across the world whose diverse backgrounds enrich teaching and learning.
Participants on our programmes and faculty share knowledge and insights through formal and informal interactions in and outside the classroom. All who make up the vibrant School of Public Service and Governance bring their own unique perspectives in a supportive and welcoming environment. The School’s diversity gives it just the right atmosphere for developing innovative approaches to local, regional and national challenges. There is also a schedule of speakers, seminars, practitioners’ fora and other events aimed at enriching the educational experience of our students.
